One of our second graders was talking about her mentor. To other potential mentors, she said, “You should try it so you can be inspirated!”
For National Mentoring Month we want you to be “inspirated” and possibly inspire others. Below are some quotes from our mentees. It warms one’s heart to read the impact one hour a week can make in the life of a child. Do you want to warm someone’s heart as well? How about thanking someone who has mentored you for the impact they’ve made in your life. A simple form can be clicked below so you can write and send it now!
“Having a mentor has given me a place to express myself and improve my confidence. Expressing myself is helpful as I have anger issues and I feel like my mentor is one I can speak to and receive help from. He has improved my confidence, is nice, and kind. I liked playing games with him and was able to express myself unlike any other way with another person. You were kind, always listened, and liked playing games with me. Having a mentor really improved me and my self-confidence and I would like to continue the relationship next year.” –Mentee, 4 years in The MN
“She’s there for me when I have difficulties in my personal life and stuff and she makes it ten times better. I am thankful for when– no matter what–you’re always there for me and through the good times as well. You make me feel better about myself when I was feeling maybe I wasn’t good enough.” –Mentee, 4 years in The MN
“Thank you for appearing in my life in general. You’ve been a positive influence in my life through my childhood and now. You are a really nice person. You’ve been a light in my life. “ –Mentee, 8 years in The MN
“She’s helped me out a lot she makes me feel cared for and one of the more trusted adults I have, including my family. She’s like family but not family. She reminds me of family. She’s great at listening. She teaches me new games. She’s helped me feel encouraged. I want you to know you’re a wonderful person you always make my day better and I don’t know how to thank you for all you’ve done. You’re one of the greatest persons I’ve ever met because you’re a wonderful, kind person, and by far one of the best persons I’ve met. I feel very appreciated by you. Thank you.” –Mentee, 2 years in The MN
“Sometimes I’m struggling with my classes and when I met him I told of those things and he helped me a lot. My English is kind of broken and he helped me to read and write–those kind of things. Thanks for all the things you have done for me. For teaching me new stuff, for how to improve my grades. Thank you for helping to think about my future and career and for being really nice to me.” –Mentee, 1 year in The MN
